Presence is incorporated statewide in New York State. Services can be provided to individuals in each provider’s local region wherever the provider may currently practice or reside in New York State.

The psychologist will work on the 8 bed Adolescent Inpatient Unit located at University Hospital as part of a multidisciplinary team, and be part of the Psychology Division of the Department of Psychiatry at Upstate Medical University. Responsibilities include short-term individual and family psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and working closely with the child psychiatrist/director of the unit, social worker and day staff to provide high quality stabilization and treatment for high risk 13-17 year old youth. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) will be a treatment focus of the program. Comprehensive training in DBT is included in the training for all staff on the unit at no cost. The psychologist will contribute to the teaching and supervision of trainees in child psychiatry and psychology. Academic title (Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Instructor, etc) will be commensurate with teaching and supervisory experience. Psychologist will attend yearly hospital-required performance evaluations and will maintain Continuing Education credits by attending Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds and outside conferences.
Qualifications: NYS licensed (or license-eligible) doctoral-level psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited training program with a focus on children and adolescents, completion of APA-approved Clinical Internship in Psychology. Minimum 3 years experience working with high risk youth in a multidisciplinary team setting and/or inpatient psychiatric setting and providing DBT treatment to high-risk youth is strongly preferred.
