Integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Ecotherapy: An Experiential Workshop in Nature

This workshop is intentionally limited to a small group to allow for a more interactive, experiential experience. Participants will spend the morning outdoors on the nature trails at Harris Whalen Park, engaging directly with the material through discussion, experiential exercises, embodied metaphors, and light movement.
This experiential workshop integrates principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with evidence-informed Nature Therapy to deepen psychological flexibility and increase connection with the self, one’s values, and the present moment through engagement with the natural world.
Please note: This program will take place outdoors on park nature trails and will be held rain or shine, except in the event of lightning. Please come prepared for the weather and bring a towel or mat to sit on.
Because this is a small-group experience, space is limited and we encourage you to register early.
Prior to the workshop, the leader will email registered participants with specific directions, what to expect, and her cell phone number in case you need to reach her on the day of the event.

Dr. Robert Goldstein: A History of the Science and Practice of Hypnosis

Robert H Goldstein joined the University of Rochester's Department of Psychiatry in 1958, and remained there for 36 years.Dr. Goldstein has served in a wide variety of clinical and administrative roles, including Director of Training in Psychology and 16 years as Chief of Psychology at the U of R Medical Center. His interest and experience with hypnosis led to his serving as hypnosis consultant to many local police departments and to being appointed as the Western NY Hypnosis Consultant to the FBI. Dr. Goldstein has provided clinical hypnosis inductions to approximately 4000 patients over the past six decades (sic) to treat behavioral and bio-medical issues. Dr. Goldstein also served on the Board of Education for the Rush-Henrietta Central School District, and as president of that Board for four years. He is also a past president of the Genesee Valley Psychological Association.
Dr. Goldstein will provide an overview of the history of hypnosis, with emphasis on the 20th and 21st century research and clinical practice of hypnosis.
