The NAMIWalks is a community event that brings people together to raise awareness about mental illness, reduce stigma, and show support for individuals and families affected by mental health conditions. It’s a meaningful opportunity to connect with our community while supporting the work of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). We’d love for GVPA members to join our team and help us show our support for mental health in our community!

The AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk brings communities together to raise awareness, support suicide prevention, remember those we’ve lost, and offer hope to those affected by suicide. It’s an opportunity to connect with others, help reduce stigma, and show our support for suicide prevention and mental health.

This practical session covered current NYS telehealth policy shifts, confidentiality and consent issues, recent research on telehealth effectiveness, developmentally appropriate engagement for children and adolescents, ERP adaptations for OCD, and useful digital tools for teletherapy.

Robert H Goldstein joined the University of Rochester's Department of Psychiatry in 1958, and remained there for 36 years.Dr. Goldstein has served in a wide variety of clinical and administrative roles, including Director of Training in Psychology and 16 years as Chief of Psychology at the U of R Medical Center. His interest and experience with hypnosis led to his serving as hypnosis consultant to many local police departments and to being appointed as the Western NY Hypnosis Consultant to the FBI. Dr. Goldstein has provided clinical hypnosis inductions to approximately 4000 patients over the past six decades (sic) to treat behavioral and bio-medical issues. Dr. Goldstein also served on the Board of Education for the Rush-Henrietta Central School District, and as president of that Board for four years. He is also a past president of the Genesee Valley Psychological Association.
Dr. Goldstein will provide an overview of the history of hypnosis, with emphasis on the 20th and 21st century research and clinical practice of hypnosis.

Tickets are $15 with proceeds benefitting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Partners, kids, etc. are welcome.

NYSPA Director of Professional Affairs and Past-President, Dr. Jerry Grodin, will join GVPA for dinner and discussions related to state-wide practice updates, current legislative efforts, insurance concerns, and other important issues impacting our field.
