Put it in your calendars: Monday, July 21, 6-7:30PM. Dr. Lisa Schwartz is doing a 90-minute virtual presentation on Ketamine AssistedPsychotherapy (KAP). Training cost is $5-$35, depending upon student, GVPA member, or non-member status, and whether you wish to earn the 1.5 CEU's (available for licensed psychologists only)

Dr. Lisa Schwartz is a former primary care physician who has trained extensively in the emerging field of Psychedelic Medicine and specifically in the provision of Ketamine Assisted Therapy in mental health and end of life/palliative care settings. She has been providing Ketamine Assisted Therapy in her private practice in Brighton, NY since October 2023, along with Psychedelic Medicine Harm Reduction Consultations and Integration services. This workshop will explain the basic science and theories that support the application of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in mental health and will cover the following topics:

  • Why consider KAP for your clients?
  • What is the general treatment framework for KAP?
  • What is the basic science behind KAP?
  • How does ketamine work differently than other medications used in mental health?
  • How to know if your client may benefit from KAP?
  • What do clients experience during a KAP session?
  • What are some misconceptions and difficulties encountered in KAP?
  • What are the professional, ethical, and legal considerations for KAP that differ from traditional psychotherapy?
  • What does collaborative care in a KAP setting look like for you and your clients?

This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about the emerging practice of psychedelic treatments from an experienced local provider. Please feel free to forward the link to non-member psychologist colleagues, as we'd love to have them. Non-psychologist clinicians are also welcome to attend, but GVPA would not be able to award them CEUs, unfortunately. Any other questions, please reach out.
